The specific latent heat of fusion of ice is 336000 J kg-1 [1] iii. The specific heat capacity of copper is 0.4 J g-1oC-1. [1] b) Chhagan while playing a flute and Magan while playing a piano are emitting sounds of same pitch and loudness i. Name one characteristic that is different for waves from the two different instruments. [1] ii. If now the loudness of the sound from flute becomes four times that of the sound from piano, then write the value of the ratio AF: AP (AF amplitude of sound wave from flute, AP amplitude of sound wave from piano). [2] c) The object AB is placed in front of a lens LL as shown below. i. Which lens is depicted here? [1] ii. What is the name given to x? [1] iii. Copy and complete the diagram to show the formation of the image of the object AB. [2] Question 5 a) A convex lens of focal length 10 cm is placed at a distance of 60 cm from a screen. Draw a labelled diagram of the system indicating clearly, the direction of the load and the effort.[2] ii. What is the value of the mechanical advantage of the given pulley system if it is an ideal pulley system [1] c) Solve the following for the circuit shown in the diagram. i. [1] Question 6 a) The 6.4 kJ of energy causes a displacement of 64 m in a body in the direction of force in 2.5 seconds. Calculate the following i. applied force [1] ii. power in SI unit and in hp. [2] b) A ray of light is incident normally on the hypotenuse face of a right-angled isosceles prism made of glass. Illustrate how the ray travels into and out of the prism using a labeled diagram. [3] c) The diagram below shows a vibrating tuning fork E mounted on a sound box X. When the vibrating tuning forks A, B, C and D are placed on the sound box Y one by one, it is observed that a louder sound is produced when the tuning fork B is place on Y. i. What is the frequency of tuning fork E? [1] ii. State the phenomenon occurring when louder sound is produced [1] iii. List two applications of this phenomenon [2] Question 7 a) 85 g of water at 30 C is cooled to 5 C by adding certain mass of ice. Determine the mass of ice required. [1] c) Radiations given out from a source when subjected to an electric field in a direction perpendicular to their path are shown below in the diagram.
