Alexandre is a serious high school student and who never fails her lessons. However, aboard a sailboat 10 metres long, Alexandre has succeeded in an extraordinary journey: at the age of 15 years, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean alone. Partially into the month of December in Morocco, he arrived on 12th January in the Carribean islands. He had passed 24 days alone on a sailboart and he had traveled 4300 kilometres at sea.
When Alexandre explained to his father, Jaques, that he wanted to cross the Atlantic alone, Jaques refused at first. He found that it was too dangerous and that Alexandre was too young. But Alexandre finally convinced his father. Jaques accepted at one condition: he would follow Alexandre in his own sailboat.
Therefore the two sailboats have left Morocco in the middle pf December. Throughout the crossing, the father kept in touch with his son by radio. When Alexandre had serious problems of sails, Jaques could give him advice. However, Jaques never boarded Alexandre's sailboat who had to resolve his problems all alone.
"For me, the hardest said Alexandre was to not sleep for several days sometimes. When there are storms, strong winds, impossible to go to sleep! "
