Mock Test Paper 2 ICSE Biology X (One hour and a half) Answers to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately. You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minute. (a) (i) Draw a microscopic view of Onion peel and label three basic parts of the cell in it. (5) (ii) How is the above mentioned cell structurally different from cheek cell? (iii) Why is iodine used when preparing an Onion Slide? (a) A potted plant was kept in dark for 24 hours. Then in early hours of morning one of the leaves was covered with black paper in the centre only. The potted plant was placed in sunlight for few hours and then the leaf covered with black paper was tested for starch. (i) What aspect of photosynthesis was being investigated? (ii) Is there any control in this experiment? If so, state the same. (iii) Why was the plant kept in dark before the experiment? (iv) Enlist the steps for starch test. (5) (b) Given below is a diagram of a smear of human blood. Study the diagram and answer the following questions: (5) (i) Name the parts 1-4. (ii) What is the special characteristic of part-1? (iii) State two functions of blood. Question 6. (a) Give reasons: (i) People living in hilly regions suffer from goitre. (ii) Pulmonary view carries oxygenated blood. (iii) Females can be carrier for colour blindness but not the males (iv) Centriole is essential for cell division in animal cells (v) Crossing over is important for evolution.
